Il Pino e la Querce farm

Local Producers

Il Pino e la Querce is a Tuscan farm founded by Giulio and Lorenzo Lucci brothers and business partners in September 2013.

This farm is the brainchild of two brothers who, taken by the enthusiasm of their young age and with only three hectares of land and a small family-run vineyard, launched into this new adventure.

On their side there was very little, experience was yet to be developed and even the land to be cultivated was not enough for their business idea. Initially in their favor was essentially a lot of desire to start a new business and the two brothers' recently completed agricultural studies.

Initially the lack of experience was a factor that played against the two, however, their tenacity and commitment over time paid off. As of today, in fact, the farm has about 100 hectares of arable land, 10 hectares of vineyards, 5 hectares of olive groves and a free-range pig farm.

The Tuscany farm is based in Lucignano, a small medieval village located in the province of Arezzo on the border with the province of Siena. Cereals and legumes are grown in the fertile soils of the Siena-Arezzo Valdichiana. Vineyards, on the other hand, are located in the Chianti colli senesi production areas and in the more renowned and well-known Chianti classico area.

The olive trees are grown in the well-exposed and ventilated stony hills of the Lucignano countryside where typical Tuscan varieties such as muraiolo and leccino grow well. The pigs raised are not the typical pink pigs that we all know, but rather the farm has decided, after careful investigation, to raise Cinta Senese pigs, a very hardy, native breed that is very well adapted to free-range farming.

The peculiarities of the breeding are mainly two: the first is that it is a closed-cycle breeding, that is, the pigs are born and grow under our supervision. The other peculiarity is to use only the grains we produce on our own land without going to buy industrial feed. This allows us to grow our animals in the most natural way possible without forcing growth in a way that ensures their well-being and at the same time creates added value to the grains that are produced on the farm.

These choices thus go to increase the quality of our products.

The grapes produced are mostly sangiovese, are vinified in our winery located within the walls of the Orgiale Castle (Castelnuovo Berardenga), the name from which the label of our bottles is derived.
