Not far from Rapolano Terme, where wooded hills form a beautiful contrast to the low vegetation of the Crete Senesi landscape stands the ancient farm "Il Chiassale". Long before, about a million years ago, this area formed the boundary between the sea and the land. The soil of the Crete Senesi hills is thus rich in many places with deposits from the distant past.

Chiassale is located between Chianti with its hills rich in olive groves and vineyards, the Crete Senesi with its characteristic gullies and biancane, and the Val d'Orcia of the elysian fields of "The Gladiator."  From here you can easily reach ancient villages that exude history and art, or stroll through the hills and enjoy the colorful sunsets of the Senese landscape.

The company was founded in 1966, when Savelli Alfiero decided to leave the secure job he had at the travertine quarries to devote himself to farming. Always flanked by his wife Orietta, he gradually built a farm in which nothing was lacking: not only fields of cereals, olive groves and vineyards, but also a cattle farm, first for dairy and then for beef that came to count 60 head in 1975 and maintained until 1991.

Their son Danilo became passionate about the family business, earned a degree in Agricultural Sciences and joined his parents in running the farm. Freelancing as a consultant to leading wineries in Chianti and Montalcino, Danilo acquired the knowledge of the masters of Tuscan winemaking and decided to apply it in his own business. Thus Chiassale increases the surface area of its vineyards to the current 7.5 hectares or so with the planting in 2020 of a new vineyard and the renovation of the oldest on the property.

In 2021 the new winery, which stands where the old cattle barn used to be, goes into operation. The facility is equipped with all the modern technologies necessary for the vinification of the grapes produced from our vineyards, where in addition to the traditional Sangiovese there are also Merlot and Cabernet varieties for reds, Vermentino and Sauvignon Blanc for whites.
